All eyes will also be on second place Coolmore horse. Superstar five-year-old American-bred mare Joqular tops a field of six and is coming off her first Grade One win on Boxing Day in the Robert J Borque stakes which is her third win in a row.

She will now look to take Victory in the Coolmore Home of champion stakes Grade One today. The Coolmore Home of champion stakes for the top-rated horses has a purse of $50,000 at 1800 meters. It will be race six on the sevenrace card pencilled for 4:55 p.m.

Trained by Charles Williams and owned by Darwin Clarke, Joqular had finished second in the Coolmore stakes last year to the now ill-fated Queen of Pitons. She will look to continue the winning sequence of Celestial Storm, which placed second to Infrared in the 2019 Coolmore, then came back the next year to defeat Night Prowler on the line in the 2020 running of the race.

There had been no Coolmore stakes in 2021 due to Covid-19, as this race is the prep race for the Sandy Lane Gold Cup, which will run off on March 4th after no Gold Cup had taken place for the last two years also due to Covid- 19.

Joqular will be ridden by Tashawn Hazelwood weighing 123 lbs at gate two.

All race fans’ eyes will also be fixed on the second place horse in this year’s Coolmore as second place horses of 2017, 2019, and 2020 Coolmore all went on to win the Gold Cup.

In 2017 Coolmore runner-up Dorsett went on to win the Gold Cup that year. As well as 2019 Coolmore runner-up Celestial Storm, she became just the third Grey horse to win the Gold Cup when she won that year.

Celestial Storm defeated Night Prowler in the Coolmore by a neck in 2020 as Night Prowler went on to win the 2020 Gold Cup.

Brilliant News from the Sir David Seale barn finished second in the Robert J Borque stakes. He will look to give his owner his first Coolmore stakes victory after finishing 2nd in the race with Aristodemus in 2013 and Night Prowler in 2020. They both had gone on to win the Gold Cup in 2013 and 2020 respectively. Rey Williams will ride 129 Ibbs gate six.

Bodie Tap, owned by Mark Goodridge, ran a Bomb to come 3rd in last year’s running of the Coolmore as he loves 1800 meters. He also finished second in the 2020 Gold Cup proving this fact.

Bodie Tap ran three times last year and Trainer Rommel Lovell will have him sharp. Cadeah Arthur will ride 128 Ibbs gate one.

Inspired Adventure who ran fourth in the Coolmore 2022 and 3rd in the Robert J Borque on Boxing Day can’t be ignored as he defeated the top-rated horses last year at 1800 meters. Kyle Carter has the ride 129Ibs gate five.

Newcomer So Suave winner of his last two races at Woodbine plus Vividly winner of her only start in Barbados sweetens the pot and rounds off the field.

My selection Joqular, Brilliant News, Inspired Adventure, and Bodie Tap. The post time for race one is 2 p.m.
